Yours, Lord

Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in the heavens and on earth belongs to You. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom, and You are exalted as head over all. Riches and honor come from You, and You are the ruler of everything. In Your hand are power and might, and it is in Your hand to make great and to give strength to all. 1 Chronicles 29:11-12 HCSB

I learned a secret a long time ago that I’ve forgotten many times over. I learned it as a teenager, but forgot it as I was studying hard and applying for scholarships. You see, I had to make something of myself. I learned it before I bought my first home, but soon forgot it as I was saving for my down payment and touring potential homes. You see, I had to have a nice home. I learned it as I began to save for my retirement, but again forgot it as I shoved money into IRAs and 403bs. You see, I had to provide for myself.

What’s the secret that I forgot? It’s not us. It’s Him.

In You, Lord, is everything I need.
